Potential candidates for School Captain positions are nominated at the beginning of their final year at Bracken Ridge State School. Once nominated, candidates have to address the Year 6 and 7 students, teachers and administration, and their parents. In the address, students indicate what they feel will make them a great School Captain. The Year 6 and 7 students in conjunction with the Teaching Staff then make the difficult decision and vote for their preferred candidates. School Captains

Student Council
The Student Council's main aim is to give children in Year 7 an opportunity to exercise and develop leadership skills. It also aims to teach children the necessary skills to conduct and manage a meeting.
The Student Council also provides an avenue for students to undertake fundraising activities in order to contribute some funds for a designated charity or a school project they wish to undertake.
The School Council draws its membership from the Year 7 classes, with students from each class nominated to the Student Council. To become a member of the Student Council, children must be a School Leader.
